Important Travel Guidelines for Manasarovar Yatra

    Things You Must Do

    • Prepare Physically & Mentally: Engage in regular walking, light exercise, or yoga before the Yatra to build stamina and breathing capacity.
    • Pack Warm Clothing: Carry thermal wear, woolen jackets, gloves, socks, caps, and layered clothing to stay comfortable in extreme temperatures.
    • Altitude Precaution: Walk slowly and steadily to adjust to high altitude. Rest well, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary exertion.
    • Carry Essential Medicines: Bring a personal medical kit including prescribed medicines, Diamox (for altitude), pain relievers, and basic first aid.
    • Protect Against Sun & Cold: Use quality sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm; also carry rain gear and sturdy trekking shoes.
    • Travel Light: Use a duffel bag and pack only essentials for trekking; keep valuables and documents (passport, permits, ID) with you safely.
    • Stay Hydrated & Nourished: Drink plenty of water and eat simple, nutritious food during the Yatra. Carry light snacks like glucose, dry fruits, or chocolates for energy.
    • Team Spirit: Walk together, support fellow yatris, and maintain discipline with the group—it ensures safety and harmony.
    • Respect Local Customs: Be mindful of Tibetan traditions, monasteries, and cultural sensitivities throughout the journey.
    • Keep Travel Insurance: Ensure you have insurance that covers high-altitude travel, medical evacuation, and emergencies.

    Things You Shouldn’t Do

    • Avoid the Yatra if Medically Unfit: People with severe heart, asthma, high blood pressure, or serious respiratory issues should not attempt the Yatra.
    • Do Not Over pack: Carrying unnecessary luggage will only slow you down and create difficulties.
    • No Alcohol or Smoking: These increase health risks at high altitude and should be strictly avoided.
    • Don’t Rush the Parikrama: Walking too fast can cause altitude sickness. Always move at your own comfortable pace.
    • Avoid Dehydration: Do not skip drinking water even if you don’t feel thirsty in the cold.
    • Don’t Carry Restricted Items: Avoid books, images, or materials related to the Dalai Lama or politically sensitive content, as they are restricted in Tibet.
    • Don’t Ignore Your Body: If you feel unwell, inform
your team leader or guide immediately rather than
      continuing silently.
