    Introduction - Pikey Peak Trek-10 days of Pikey Peak circuit trek

    Pikey Peak Trek is the new best trekking route in the Everest region. Everybody goes for the Everest base camp trek or Gokyo treks but the Pikey Peak trekking is another new trekking route with scenic destinations having views of many peaks such as Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Number Chuli, Thamserku, Kangtega, Khatang Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang. The Pikey peak is an amazing 10 days experience in the least visited tracks of Solukhumbu. Other than the view of the great Himalayas, the sunrise view from Pikey Peak at an altitude of 4070 meters is mesmerizing. It stands as the amazing viewpoint in entire Nepal. Not only the views of natural topography but the floral and fauna of the trails and destination are awe-inspiring. The forest of rhododendron, magnolia, and pine with birds and animals like tigers, lophophorous, bears, pandas, and cattle like yak, cow, and mountain goats are scattered at various elevations.

    Visitors can have wonderful nature walks through scenic villages and get to know the cultures and traditions of the communities of Tamang, Gurung, and Sherpas. During the festive season, the devotees swarm the areas of monasteries wishing peace and prosperity to all the travelers. The trek can also be a camping experience and the best season is the months of September to November and March to May.

    On this trek to Pikey Peak, we will start our journey by driving to Bamti Bhandar and the trek starts the next day. We will reach many places like Namkheli, Golla, and finally Pikey Base Camp for the overnight stay. Then we will hike to Pikey Peak (4070m) and then descend to Junbesi. We will visit Thupten Chholing monastery while we are in Junbesi and then head to Chiwong monastery finally reaching Phaplu. We will fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu and on the same day visit the three UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Nepal: Pashupatinath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Bouddhanath marking the end of our 10 days Pikey Peak adventure and experience.     Day 01  Arrival in Kathmandu

    Welcome to the land of the Himalayas. After you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from the Himalayan Advisor will be there to greet you at the airport and take you to the hotel in Kathmandu. Freshen up at the hotel and we will meet to discuss your upcoming circuit trek of Pikey peak.

    Day 02  Kathmandu to Bamti Bhandar

    Today we will start our journey from Kathmandu to Bamti Bhandar. Bamti Bhandar is located north in the Ramechhap district which will be the starting point of our trek to Pikey peak. You will ride a private vehicle to Bamti Bhandar. It is a Sherpa village with great hospitality. There are few local hotels available in the region for overnight stays.

    Day 03  Trek to Namkheli

    We will start our trek after morning breakfast. Our destination for the day is Namkheli. We will reach Namkheli in about 8 hours. We will cross Thada Khola and reach Solukhumbu district after crossing Likhu Khola. The trail along the river bed and across bridges is very astonishing. Then we will reach Chaulakharka and walk through the region of Lelepu finally getting to our destination of Namkheli. The view of Numbur Himal is beautiful from Namkheli.

    Day 04  Trek from Namkheli to Golla

    Today we will trek for about 8 hours to reach Golla. The terrain will change so slightly that you will not notice the elevation we will reach. Golla also called Gumba dada is famous for its gompas/gumbas and the three famous gumbas are Pema Dechhen Choling Gompa, Guru Padhma Sambhav Gompa, and Orgen Sanang Chholing Gompa. You will find the Gwale caste of Sherpa ethnicity as the major population in Golla village. After we arrive in Golla, check in to the room and explore the gumbas there.

    Day 05  Trek to Pikey Base Camp

    Today, we will climb up to Pikey Peak Base Camp. It is at an altitude of 3640 meters. We will ascend through a forest of Rhododendrons with views of snow-capped peaks. There are chances to observe wildlife in the forest. We will reach Pikey Base Camp in about 6 hours after crossing many places like Lamomane, Dallemane, Muktumje, and Naur. Between our treks, we will stop at Naur for lunch if possible, and get to see villages like Gupchuka and Koshinasha. There are few accommodation facilities available for us in Pikey Base Camp.

    Day 06  Hike from Pikey Base Camp to Pikey Peak and Trek down to Junbesi

    Today, let us get up early in the morning and visit Pikey Peak. The vantage point is at an altitude of 4070 meters which is the highest altitude we will reach in the entire trip. It will be an hour's journey to get a clear view of peaks like Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Number Chuli, Thamserku, Kangtega, Khatang Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang along with a glorious sunrise. Then we will trek down for our breakfast in Jarsabhanjyang and descend to Junbesi (2680m). We will cross many chortens and Mani walls before we arrive in the Sherpa village of Junbesi. We will stay in Junbesi for the night.

    Day 07  Visit Thupten Chholing and Free day in Junbesi

    Today is our free day in the village of Junbesi. But we will visit a monastery called Thupten Chholing as a side trip destination at an altitude of 3020 meters. It is also called Thubten Choling Monastery and was built in the 1960s. It is also a retreat community where over 700 monks and nuns are living. The Independent and autonomous community handles all activities in the monastery with the authentic traditional approach. The way to the monastery through the Stream of the Junbesi River, crossing the suspension bridge, and passing the green coniferous forest is breathtaking. After exploring the monastery, we will hike down to Junbesi for the night. But the rest of the day is for you to explore the beautiful village.

    Day 08  Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu via Chiwong monastery

    After breakfast, we will head to Phaplu but visit the Chiwong monastery on the way. The monastery is built in 1923 on a cliff. It celebrates the Mani Rimdu festival in October month for 19 days and the last three days are open to the public. So we are on exact time, we can witness the festival there. After that, we will head down to Phaplu (2400m). It will take us three hours to reach Phaplu. The trail is pretty scenic Phaplu where we can sample local cuisines and drink. We can also roam around Salleri Bazar before checking in at our lodge in Phaplu.

    Day 09  Phaplu to Kathmandu and Private Kathmandu Sightseeing

    We will return to Kathmandu after breakfast. We can fly to Kathmandu in about 40 minutes. After reaching Kathmandu, we will drop you at your hotel and get ready for a tour of Kathmandu. We will visit three of the seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. The journey will begin from Pashupatinath Temple.

    The Temple of Pashupatinath is a complex of many temples of various deities and worships Lord Shiva at the main temple. The temple complex is a religious and architectural heritage with more than 500 smaller pagoda-style temples. The temple complex is situated near the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Many rituals and rites are performed there including cremation rituals. Next, we will move to Bhaktapur Durbar Square to see many architectural masterpieces of the ancient Malla period. The city of Bhaktapur is a museum on its own. Many attractions like the 55 windows palace, Vastala Temple, Golden Gate, Siddha Pokhari, Nyatapola Temple, and Lion's Gate are scattered around durbar square. Finally, we will visit Bouddhanath Temple, a Buddhist pilgrimage site. You can see a large dome-shaped stupa about 36 meters tall as soon as you enter the premise of the stupa. There are prayer wheels, multicolored prayer flags, and many Buddha images around the stupa. Many eateries and thanka shops surround the stupa along with monasteries.

    At night, we will meet up for a farewell dinner. Share your stories with us and any complaints or appreciation of our trek team with the management. We are open to criticism and suggestions. If you want to extend the trip, we can squeeze in some day trips for you for the next few days. After dinner, we will drop you at the hotel.

    Day 10  Depart Kathmandu
